Welcome to the Tom Farrell Institute for the Environment!
The Tom Farrell Institute for the Environment was established in 2006, as part of the University of Newcastle's commitment to the ongoing sustainability of our region. Our aim is to build long-term partnerships with industry, business, government and the community in promoting environmental sustainability in our region and beyond. The TFI is the gateway to environmental research and teaching at the University of Newcastle. The Centre's vision is to help develop regional solutions for a sustainable future. We aim to integrate the University's teaching, research and community engagement into those solutions. TFI aligns with NEW FUTURES through a passion for excellence and discovery; driving global and regional impact; engaging across the globe; a shared vision with our communities; staff who make their mark; and building a sustainable future and the Environmental Sustainability Plan. Our Vision is to champion regional solutions for a sustainable future both within the University of Newcastle and within the community. Our Mission:
