2015 Mined Land Rehabilitation Conference
The Best Practice Ecological Rehabilitation of Mined Lands 2015 Conference is organised by the Tom Farrell Institute for the Environment (TFI). The TFI is a multidisciplinary organisation which is well placed as the University of Newcastle's Environmental Institute to engage with Australia's leading professionals involved in the broader environmental fields. Established in 2006, TFI has steadily grown and its outreach extends throughout Australia and Internationally. This annual conference plays a significant role in the Hunter Region, providing an important avenue for TFI to promote the use of best practice approaches in the management of rehabilitation of mined lands. Based on previous year's attendance figures, we are anticipating approximately 200 delegates at the 2015 conference, making it one of the largest mining rehabilitation conferences in Australia. With the ongoing support of the Office of Environment and Heritage we will present our fourth annual conference. The conferences regularly attract an audience of miners, environmental professional, government representatives, research scientists and interested persons from the community.
Our fifth annual conference in Singleton will be run in conjunction with the Hunter Coal Festival in the heart of the mining region has explored the best in the science, practice and practise of mined land restoration to achieve the best in biodiversity outcome. With approximately 200 guests in attendance, the 2014 conference was a resounding success and a worthwhile event for all who attended.
